When Google announced plans to acquire Nest for 3.2 billion dollars a lot of people were left a bit confused. And we can't blame them - on it's face the acquisition of a company that makes a thermostat and smoke detector for over 3 billion does sound a bit off. It might not be the craziest idea Google has ever had though, and here's why.
