We're pretty sure that "has technology gone too far?" is a question that doesn't come up very often in Japan. The latest in the world of humanoid robots guaranteed to give you nightmares comes from SoftBank. They claim that they're new robot "Pepper" can display lifelike emotions and comes equipped to staff stores and care for children and the elderly. All that in a package that starts at just $2,000.
It doesn't end there though - Pepper will learn from its interactions with humans and upload those experiences to the cloud where it can be used to improve Peppers around the world. And no, we didn't somehow confuse the plot of I, Robot for a news story. We assure you this is the real deal.
How do you feel about a learning robot equipped with emotions taking care of your kids and staffing storefronts? Let us know in the comments.
