The Martin Jetpack might not be a jetpack in the truest sense of the word (it's fan propelled, for one), and it's certainly a little bulkier than the artist depictions you might have seen on a 1960s-era Popular Science cover, but it's a step in the right direction. This single-pilot craft is capable of vertical takeoff and landing, and can remain airborne for up to 30 minutes. In the air it will achieve speeds of around 46 miles per hour while cruising at altitudes of over 3,000 feet.
