Have you ever been lying on the grass looking up at the sky and thought, "Wow, those fluffy white clouds look like giant delicious balls of fluff that I'd love to eat?" Of course you have, because fluffy clouds are terrific. Well, looks like all our weird cloud-eating dreams are about to come true thanks to I and J Ideations. Yup, with a background in engineering, technology and biology, these guys were able to create a way to cloudify our favorite foods. Eating clouds. Nice.
So where did the idea for cloud based foods come from? Turns out that the idea for the cloud generator came together when the team tried to reverse engineer cola and break it down to its base flavors. They then developed a way to create table top clouds. Which they quickly realized could be poured into glasses. So how does it actually work? Simple. Just kidding. It's not simple. Using an element that vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies, energy waves are transferred through flavored water and break down the liquid into droplets while the energy comes to the surface.
Using this technique, pretty much any flavor can be achieved. Not only can you create single tastes such as mint or butterscotch, but you can actually stack flavors to create a dish of sorts. All this is very cool, but what benefits can come from eating clouds? Several, it seems. According to clinical studies people with compromised taste or smell, like people going through chemotherapy, can actually experience improved appetite after "eating" clouds. That's pretty cool.
