On 24 August 2008, Real Madrid captured the club's eighth Spanish Super Cup crown after overcoming Valencia. Our team came off second best in a 3-2 first-leg reverse, but Ruud van Nistelrooy's brace at Mestalla was enough to allow the team to stage a comeback at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Whites secured the trophy on 24 August 2008 following a 4-2 return-leg win over Valencia at the Bernabéu.
