KandyPens sent us their new K-Vape Micro-DX portable digital vaporizer to test out.
And overall? The verdict is that the Micro-DX, even for a vaping beginner (guilty as charged), makes for an excellent experience. Despite the compact size and proximity of the fuel chamber to the mouthpiece, even at its highest setting of 430 degrees, the resulting vape is comfortable and pleasant to smoke. It takes a touch over 30 seconds to get to 400 degrees. The look is pretty slick, the child-resistant three-button control system and digital display do exactly what you'd want them to in a simple and easy way, allowing you to see the exact temperature and battery life on the device.
After a session, the unit does heat up a bit around where the mouthpiece meets the body; so you'll want to a wait a minute or so before slipping it back into your pocket as it found it heated up my leg through my pocket at times. The plastic mouthpiece, which you have to snap off to access the fuel chamber, is also a bit confusing to remove at first because the instructions provided have only tiny photos as directions, and until you get it on and off a few times it's also quite stiff to remove. In general the mouthpiece is also the weakest feeling part of the device, but it's backed by a lifetime warranty. The small size also means big-handed, clumsy folk like myself have to concentrate a bit when packing the device.
These are minor quibbles though. Overall it's a very compact device that's going to give you a nice vaping experience and also feels great in your hand, with nice easy controls. $200.
