Summer is here and there's nothing more fun than enjoying some delicious chicken wings while hanging on your deck with your buddies and pounding back some brewskis. So in the spirit of summer, here's an awesome recipe that will change your wing game forever. What's the secret ingredient? A Korean liquor called Soju.
Here's what you'll need:
-Chicken wings
-Garlic
-Ginger
-Brown Sugar
-Soy Sauce
-Gochujang
-Soju
-Sesame Oil
-Corn Starch
-Gochugaru
-Sesame Seeds
Directions:
Roughly chop the garlic cloves and toss them into a bowl, then grate 1 tsp of ginger over the bowl. Add 3 tbsps of brown sugar, then too 1 tbsp of soy sauce into the mix along with 1 tbsp of Gochujang chili paste. Pour 1/3 of a cup of Soju into the mix, then add 1-2 tsp of sesame oil. Mix well then put the mixture into a pan at medium high. Heat your oil up to 320 F, then pat the chicken wings dry.
Coat the wings with corn starch and place them in the hot oil for 10 minutes, then remove from the heat. Add a pinch of Gochugaru. Then, once the sauce mixture starts to take on a a syrupy consistency, remove from the heat and pour through a filter to remove the chunks.
Bring the oil heat up to 375 F, then put the chicken wings back into the fryer for 2-3 minutes. Toss the wings with the sauce, then garnish with toasted sesame seeds. Enjoy.
