ESPN FC’s Paul Mariner and Ross Dyer react to the news Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon is returning to the club after one season at Paris Saint-Germain. Mariner can think of two reasons why Buffon would return to the Bianconeri at the age of 41: to try one more time to win the UEFA Champions League and to break AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini’s record of 647 career appearances in Serie A (Buffon has 640). Regardless of the reason, Mariner says the move makes no sense. He goes on to discuss how it will impact Maurizio Sarri’s team on and off the pitch, and what Buffon’s return will mean for starting goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and backup Mattia Perin.
