‘Abbott Elementary’ star Sheryl Lee Ralph reflects on her incredible journey to success. From her breakthrough role in ‘Dreamgirls’ to becoming a beloved television star, Sheryl shares the lessons she’s learned along the way.

Sheryl discusses her experience as part of the first class of women at Rutgers University and her move to Los Angeles to break into Hollywood. She recalls the powerful mentorship of Sidney Poitier: "I remember Mr. Poitier looking at me and he said, 'I'm so sorry, the industry doesn't have anything more to offer you, because you deserve it.'"

Sheryl also shares a heartfelt look at her marriage to Senator Vincent Hughes: "He has his own life, I have my own life. He has his own real career, I have my own real career."
